A new month means new opportunities, goals, adventures, and more. That makes it the perfect time to go after your goals and crush them. But to do that, there are some steps you can take to better prepare for the upcoming month.
Balance Your Practice Schedule
Whether you are taking summer classes, camps, intensives, or just dancing at home, it is important to know what you are doing and when. A good way to keep track of all your dance training is by keeping a whiteboard calendar somewhere in your room. That way you can change it every month depending on your schedule. When mapping out your month, don’t forget to add things like vacations or friend hangouts.
Take care of yourself
What areas of self-care were you lacking in the past month? Hair care, mental health, diet? Find what you can improve on and make a plan. If you want to eat healthier, you could meal prep every week. If it is your mental health, find small ways to incorporate things that are good for your mental health into your day, like watching the sunset, going for a walk, or reading a book.
Set Goals
Take any goals that you didn’t complete in the past month and new goals that you are hoping to achieve and write out how you plan to achieve each one. Doing this will make your goals much more attainable and seem more in reach than just writing out one big goal. Let’s say your goal is to get your aerial and break your goal into multiple parts. First work toward an aerial on stacked mats. Then lock in a one-handed running cartwheel. Your final goal is your aerial on the floor.
Keeping up
Take this time to do things you need to catch up on. Need new pointe shoes? Order them. Want to get the highlights in your hair touched up? Make the appointment. Want to get a massage? Find a masseuse or a physical therapist to visit. Find ways to sneak in those small things so you can set yourself up for success and a good month.
