Running from school to dance class, to competition on the weekends, it can be hard to catch a break for water. But as a dancer, it is highly important to make sure you are giving your body everything it needs, and it needs a lot of water. When you dance, you sweat out a lot of the water you are consuming, so you have to resupply your body with it. Here is to fueling our bodies with what they need for the new year!

Keep a Hydration Tracker

Sometimes, being a busy student and dancer, it can be difficult to keep track of things. Especially something that isn’t at the top of your to-do list like drinking water. If you need a little help with keeping track, that’s ok! Track how much water you drink in a place you already look at often such as your planner, journal, or notes app or download a water tracker app. Another great option is to get a water bottle that has markings on it with times of day and how much water you are drinking. These bottles come in all different colors and sizes which means you are bound to find one you will love!

Compensate with Food

Did you know that you can up your water intake while eating certain foods? So, if you are someone who forgets to drink a lot of water, or just doesn’t enjoy it, this could work for you. This includes various types of fruits and vegetables (which will also give you other benefits at the same time, so it’s a win-win). Some examples of water-rich foods are pineapple, peppers, oranges, celery, and strawberries. But there are many other options out there if those aren’t ones you enjoy.

Make the Flavor One You Enjoy

Some people just don’t enjoy drinking water, and that’s ok. If you find yourself to be more of a soda or juice person, then great news! There are other ways you can drink water to cater it towards more of a flavor you will enjoy. There are options like drinking a Gatorade or Powerade which have different flavors and are sold in individual pre-made bottles for on-the-go hydration. There are also the options such as LiquidIv or CrystalLight which just add some nice flavor that you can customize to your liking. Drinking water doesn’t always have to be boring and flavorless!
