The Paris 2024 Olympics have filled our feeds and our conversations over the last two weeks. While the Olympics are a great source of entertainment, they are also a great source of inspiration. Every Olympian has endured and persevered so much to get to where they are, just like you have. Let’s reflect on the Paris 2024 Olympics and the inspiration they have to offer.

Discipline and Commitment

To make it to the Olympics, athletes have to remain consistent, disciplined, and committed. None of these are easy, but they are stepping stones for success. The same is true of dance! The more work and commitment you put into dance, the more results you see. Olympians train for hours a week doing workouts, practices, stretching, and conditioning. So, whether it’s working on your arabesque or doing that ab workout, hold yourself accountable. Setting regular practice schedules and training hours will set you up for success.

Unmatched Teamwork

When watching the Olympics you can see that the athletes are very supportive of each other, even if they are on opposing teams from across the world. Kindness will always get you further than anything else. In dance, whether in class or at a competition, treat your fellow dancers with respect and kindness. There is so much more to being a good athlete than just being good at your sport. Learning to help out your teammates, work together, and support them is something that every truly good athlete exemplifies.

Passion

The passion Olympians show is unmatched. You can see it all over their faces, in the way they talk, and even the way they walk. Their love for their sport shines bright, as should yours for dance. At the end of the day, it should always be about having fun with your sport and doing it because you love it. Dance isn’t just about having the most perfect lines, it is about having that joy and being able to share it with everyone around you.

Belief in Yourself

When you are in a highly competitive setting, it can be easy to tear yourself down and tell yourself you won’t win. However, that doesn’t make a winning mindset or athlete. How you talk to yourself matters. Believing in yourself matters. Be your own biggest fan. There will be moments where you doubt and question yourself. Push past them and trust your hard work.
