Payton White is a 10-year-old dancer from Tualatin, Oregon. She dances at Elevate Dance Academy.

“When I tell people about why dance is so important to me, I let them know that it’s a way of being able to express your feelings and have a positive outlet in life.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

Dance helps me because when I am on stage nothing else matters but performing to the best of my ability at that time, and having so much fun while doing it! Also, I am able to connect and become friends with so many other people that I wouldn’t normally be able to meet if it weren’t for dance competitions, conventions, and nationals.

How do you want to use dance to be a positive influence on your community?

When I tell people about why dance is so important to me, I let them know that it’s a way of being able to express your feelings and have a positive outlet in life, especially right now with the current state of life. It’s been wonderful to be able to be in the studio dancing with my friends and having a little bit of normalcy. I think everybody should be able to have a positive outlet in life.
