Actor Peyton Perrine is making his name in the acting world. From the Netflix’s drama series Black & White to the web series comedy Funny Married Stuff, Peyton has been showing off his acting skills in a variety of kid roles while making time for his favorite hobbies like sports, martial arts, and video games.

Peyton is currently playing an ongoing role in Nickelodeon’s comedy That Girl Lay Lay. The show follows Sadie, a young girl navigating school and growing up. When she wishes that phone avatar Lay Lay was her real-life best friend, it turns out that wishing on a star just might work and Lay Lay comes to life. Together, Sadie and Lay Lay learn and grow together. Peyton takes on the role of Marky, Sadie’s entrepreneurial younger brother. Marky always has a business proposal or an investment opportunity pitch and often finds himself along for the ride as Sadie and Lay Lay’s adventure unfolds.

We caught up with Peyton for an inside look at his experiences bringing this character to life!

Showstopper Magazine Online: Hi, Peyton! Tell us a bit about yourself.

Well I’m 12 years old, almost 13, and I enjoy acting as you know, but also I love playing video games and especially training in my martial art Muay Thai and katana sword fighting.

SMO: What led you to acting?

I saw my mom doing commercials and auditioning and I thought, ”I want to do that”, and I did! I started off just doing commercials, and I was on a game show called Bet On Your Baby. Soon my mom’s manager asked me if I wanted to do TV and I said, ”Why not? Let’s try something new!” And that’s how it all started.

SMO: What are your favorite parts of being on-screen?

Well my favorite part of being on screen is watching our episodes and thinking about how much work gets put into a 30-minute episode! One of my other favorite parts is my East Coast family sending videos about how much they love the show.

SMO: You play Marky on Nickelodeon’s That Girl Lay Lay. Can you tell us about your character?

Marky is Sadie’s younger brother who loves making money and is a young entrepreneur. Marky helps Lay Lay and Sadie on their adventures and keeps Lay Lay’s secret.

SMO: How do you bring him to life?

I bring Marky to life by channeling my inner entrepreneur and just keeping it fun.

SMO: How do you relate to Marky? Do you have a favorite detail about him as a character?

I relate to Marky because we both love going on adventures with our best friends and family! My favorite detail about Marky is that he is very no-nonsense and I think it’s hilarious whenever I read one of the scripts or watch an episode.

SMO: On the show, you work with Gaby Green who plays your big sister. What is it like working with her and the rest of the cast?

Working with Gaby and the rest of the cast is amazing! We have a lot of fun together and everyone is kind and supportive. They welcomed me when I was nervous at the start of Season 1, and now we are a family.

SMO: Do you have any favorite behind-the-scenes memories?

One of my favorite behind-the-scenes memories is when Lay Lay and I were delirious between shooting scenes, and we’re laughing at each other and doing random silly things.

SMO: The show is currently in its second season and still filming! What has it been like to work on Season 2?

It’s been great to work on Season 2. We’ve been through a lot, but it is a pleasure working with these amazing people.

SMO: What are you most excited for people to see?

I am most excited for people to see the future episodes and the craziness in them.

SMO: Is there anything else you would like people to know about?

Well I am coming up with projects created by me, hope y’all enjoy when it comes out soon!
