Singer-songwriter Rachael Fahim is a pop-country star just sharing her sound with the world. And the world can’t get enough. Rachael is dominating the charts in Australia where she is the highest-streamed female country artist. (Uh, wow!)

In just a few years, Rachael has been building up an incredible discography while creating a group and constantly working on new music. We’ll let her tell you herself, though! We caught up with Rachael to ask her about where it all started, what it’s like sharing her music with so many people, and her latest hit single “Darts in the Dark.”

Showstopper Magazine Online: How did you get into music?

Rachael Fahim: I started really young, just singing around the house, so mum and dad thought I would enjoy lessons, so I started doing those…I then entered many MANY talent quests, and my obsession with wanting to pursue this as a career just grew from there! I loved the talent quest scene, I learned so much about performing and how to handle myself when things go wrong.

SMO: When did you know you wanted to be a performer professionally? etc.

Rachael: I think that realization really hit me really young, I couldn’t really see myself doing anything else and I was beginning to get paid gigs by the time I turned 18. Ever since then, doing this professionally has sort of been a ’no brainer’ for me. Best job in the world!

SMO: In the last three years, you have been the highest-streamed Australian female country artist. What has it been like to reach his milestone?

Rachael: Honestly, it’s been so crazy…I don’t even really think about it though, I’m just doing what I do and it amazes me that there are people who are also enjoying this ride with me too…My brain and heart both feel as though they explode when I see my streaming numbers! I just want to keep releasing music that people enjoy, and hopefully, more and more listeners jump on board!

SMO: Your latest single “Darts in the Dark” came out just a couple of weeks ago. What inspired that song?

Rachael: This song was inspired by a time in my life where I felt as though I wasn’t hitting those classic 25-year-old milestones…All of these people around me were doing great things with their lives and I felt like my life was lagging. I know we all go through seasons and waves, so this song is really about just going with the flow and taking whatever life throws at you, knowing that everything happens for a reason even though you mightn’t have the slightest clue what you’re supposed to be doing!

SMO: You co-wrote “Darts in the Dark” at the 2021 “Country meets pop” song camp. Can you tell us about your collaborators and what that process was like?

Rachael: I wrote this song with Rosi Golan, Ned Houston, and Robby Desa. We were sitting in Robby’s studio having a low-key therapy session for me, and Rosi just threw out this KILLER title…It instantly resonated with all of us and really tied in nicely with what I was saying/how I was feeling—and voila! “Darts in the Dark” was born!

SMO: Do you have a favorite moment in “Darts in the Dark”?

Rachael: My absolute favorite part of the song is the bridge. 5-year-old me would be so proud of where I am right now, and I bet the same goes for everyone else out there.

SMO: How do you feel now that the song is out in the world?

Rachael: I am so excited…My manager and I have been sitting on this song for what feels like a lifetime, and I’m so happy it’s finally out. It’s been a journey and a half to get this song released, and I just wanted people to hear it. I am so incredibly proud of this lil’ song baby and I can’t wait to see what it does out in the world!

SMO: What’s next for you? Do you have any current or upcoming projects you can share?

Rachael: At the moment, I’ve been working on putting a band together to come out of lockdown and finally play some festivals! We’ve been working really hard on honing in on a new, fresh, fun sound and I can’t WAIT to get back up on a stage…any stage! Give me a pair of sparkly shorts and let me back out there! I’m also working on putting together an album for late 2022—so stay tuned.

We can’t get enough of Rachael, and we’re excited for her to return to the stage (and we have our eyes peeled for that album). “Darts in the Dark” is streaming now on all of your favorite platforms!
