“I hope that others with disabilities can see that anything is possible with passion and hard work. To those who are afraid to try, I hope to give them bravery.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

Dance means so much to me! I am profoundly hard of hearing and have had over 15 surgeries since coming home due to a congenital heart defect called Tetrology of Fallot. Dance gives me an outlet to express myself more easily than speech. It also enables me to immerse myself in the moment and forget about my struggles.

How do you want to use dance to be a positive influence on your community?

I want to use dance to show people, especially kids, that you should always reach for your dreams! Just because I have a different way of learning, I never let it stop me. I hope that others with disabilities can see that anything is possible with passion and hard work. To those who are afraid to try, I hope to give them bravery. To those with teammates who have a disability, I hope to use my team to show diversity. To those watching me dance, I hope to show them the pure joy I feel when I perform or take class.
