Kaitlyn Bogard is a 12-year-old dancer from Waco, Texas. She dances at Ignite Dance Company.

“I think it is really important for kids to be active and find something they love. I want to help other kids find their love for dance.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

My parents let me try out all kinds of stuff before I got to dance. Nothing fit until I started taking dance classes. I’m pretty shy, so it really helps me express my emotions and show my strengths without saying anything. It is really helping to build my confidence. I love being a part of a great team, too.

How do you want to use dance to be a positive influence on your community?

I think is really important for kids to be active and find something they love. I want to help other kids find their love for dance. I like seeing how people smile when they see us dancing. It makes them as happy as it makes us to be up there performing. And if it makes another kid want to try it out, I get excited because I think they will be as happy as I am about it.
