Earlier this year, Disney announced that a recorded version of Hamilton, featuring the original cast, would make its way to Disney Plus in October 2021. With new changes happening every day as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to shake up our lives with quarantine and social-distancing practices, we were lucky to find out in May that the release date for the Broadway favorite was pushed up to July.

Now, the first trailer for Hamilton is here!

Hamilton officially debuts on Disney Plus Friday, July 3, 2020. Lin-Manuel Miranda shared on Twitter that the film will include the entire production, including one-minute intermission, “(bathroom!)” as Lin puts it, and has cleverly covered some of the show’s swearing with sounds or mutes to keep the rating PG-13, so younger audiences can enjoy it as well.

When it releases on Disney Plus, a year and a half ahead of schedule, the film will be in English with English subtitling, but Lin also shared that subtitles in additional languages will be released as soon as translators are done with them. “I’m so sorry for all the words, feverishly working translators, there are so many and that’s on me,” he tweeted.

There’s just over a week to plan the perfect socially-distanced #Hamilfilm watch party! Are you ready?
