It’s festival season! And for anyone who loves music and summer, there couldn’t be a better thing. However, music festivals can be really expensive or require significant travel. But why should you let that stop you? Who’s to say you can’t throw your own music festival for you and your friends, right at home!

The DJ

The point of a music festival is the music. Collaborate with friends to make some playlists with your favorite songs. You could make playlists for different genres such as pop, rock, and country. Then you could all add different songs and artists to make the most epic playlists. Don’t forget the speakers too! Bonus points if you make a fun “DJ booth” with some decorations and accessories to wear.

The Theme

Every music festival needs a theme, right? There are so many different options, such as country, boho, or “It girl.” Pick your favorite and start planning. Some essential details include the “dress code,” so you can coordinate your outfits to the theme. Make your own photo booth station with some theme-related props for unforgettable photos. Your theme can help you plan a drink and snack menu, too!

Don’t forget to make some invitations! Send them digitally or go old-fashioned and send them through the mail.

The Setup

One of the best parts is getting Instagram-worthy pictures. Create a dreamy backdrop for your summer memories. Decorate your backyard for the perfect outdoor music festival feel, or go indoors to turn your living room into a custom music venue. Put up some fairy lights, banners, garlands, and balloons to top it all off.

The Outfit

This should be the most fun part. Make sure you can dance around in whatever you pick. Pinterest always has great ideas for cute summer outfits, and if you are going for an older Coachella theme, then you are sure to find a bunch of inspiration from crochet tops to temporary tattoos.

If you want to be even more extra, get ready with your friends before the “festival.” Some classic festival look details are beaded braids, hair tinsel, fun sunglasses, bandanas, and lots of crochet.

But most importantly, just have a fun time! Blast the music and dance with no care in the world.
