Audrey Hovermale is a nineteen-year-old dancer from Williamsburg, Virginia. She dances at Academy of Dance.

“Dance has positively impacted my life…including being physically fit, building self-confidence, simple joy, and most importantly, finding myself through the arts.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

Dance has positively impacted my life in so many different ways. Including being physically fit, building self-confidence, nutrition awareness, finding an escape from reality, simple joy, entertainment, and most importantly, finding myself through the arts. And, I am happy to say that I have begun my career path through what I love as a guest instructor and choreographer during the summertime at a dance studio in my hometown.

How do you want to use dance to have a positive influence on your community?

I have been fortunate enough to participate in many fundraising events for non-profit organizations through the arts community. I have become enlightened in the needs of my community. And this awareness drives my current goals in life. One example of the many events I participated in include Operation Smile, which funded cliff conditions for children around the world so they can smile once again and gain self-confidence.
