With Halloween only a little over a month away, it is time to start preparing to dazzle your students and fellow teachers with an amazing Halloween costume! Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Mary Poppins

Be the nanny we all know and love – Mary Poppins! The best part? Depending on your style, you’ll probably only need to buy a few things!

What You’ll Need:

  • A white button-up shirt
  • A red bow tie
  • A pair of tights (we know you have these!)
  • A few flowers from a craft store that you can pin onto a hat
  • A pair of white gloves
  • An umbrella
  • A large purse
  • Some classy earrings (we love how pearl ones look!)
  • Bright red lipstick

Hipster Alice

Be the Alive who liked Wonderland before it was cool. Hipster Alice is a super easy costume that is not only easy to dance in but also easy to put together (with items you might even have in your own closet!)

What You’ll Need:

  • Black and white striped tights
  • Fake glasses (or real ones!)
  • A light blue short sleeve dress
  • A black headband (bonus points if it has a bow!)
  • A pair of converse

Elsa

Dress up as everyone’s favorite Disney character and play some dance-freeze tag with your class! You probably won’t have an ice blue dress in your closet, but if you start looking early enough, you might just end up with the perfect costume!

What You’ll Need:

  • A long sleeved light blue shirt
  • An ice blue dress (check your local department stores’ formal departments or even channel you inner Macklemore and go thrift shopping!)
  • Silver accessories (bonus points if you can find snowflake earrings!)
  • A pair of blue or silver heels (if you’re dancing opt for some flats)
  • Braiding skills *we love how a messy fishtail braid looks- check out YouTube for tutorials)

Minnie Mouse

We love Disney (we travel there four times a year for our Regionals & Finals!) So we absolutely adore this Minnie Mouse costume!

What You’ll Need:

  • A polka dot dress (or a polka dot circle skirt paired with a cute top!)
  • Minnie mouse ears
  • Pink heels
  • Fun accessories (optional – but we always love more pink and sparkle!)

Gumball Machine

We love how bright and fun this costume is! Plus, if you have a red skirt already, then this costume might only cost you the price of a few gumballs!

What You’ll Need:

  • A red skirt
  • A tank top you don’t mind getting glue on
  • A hot glue gun
  • A plain headband
  • A bag of multi-colored cotton balls
  • A piece of gray paper or gray fabric and a marker to write “25c”

Paper Doll

This costume won’t be very easy to dance in, but we couldn’t help but include it in our list (it’s just sooo unique!)

What You’ll Need:

  • A black dress and black tights (so you don’t distract from your paper masterpiece!)
  • A large roll of paper
  • Paint (any color you want – but we love this mint blue!)
  • Scissors and measuring tape
  • Black ribbon/string and hot glue ( to glue ribbon/string on either side of the dress to wrap around yourself)
  • Doll-like makeup (big eyelashes, lighter foundation, bright lips, blush)
