There really is an app for that. For savvy dancers that want to stay up to date with the latest fashion trends, add a sparkle to their videos, edit, or even check their Showstopper competition schedule, keeping up with everything you love is as simple as checking your phone.

As a Los Angeles-based dancer, I’m always on the go from one thing to the next, so keeping all of my essentials close is a must! The apps below are serious life-savers when it comes to managing my favorite activities and turning my iPhone into the ultimate command center.

Showstopper App

This perfectly pink app is an awesome resource for all things Showstopper. You can catch up with Showstopper Magazine Online for everything in dance, fashion, and lifestyle as well as exclusive interviews and videos of today’s top dancers. What I really love about this app is that it puts my competition schedules in the palm of my hand when I’m at Showstopper Regionals and Finals competitions (or even conventions)! I can even livestream National Finals events from the app which is perfect for keeping up with all of the best routines. There is always something amazing to find on this app that will totally inspire you!

KiraKira

If you’ve ever wished you could add glitter to anything and everything you aim your phone camera at, KiraKira is exactly what you need. We’ve all seen fabulous videos of shoes, nails, and dresses sparkling magically on Instagram. The secret behind those videos is this app. When you use KiraKira to take videos or pictures with your phone, anything that emits light or is reflective will sparkle! There are seven different modes (My favorite setting is Bling-Bling.), so there’s the perfect sparkle for pretty much anything.

“Life won’t sparkle unless you do! So Shine baby!”

Instagram

A classic must-have app, Instagram is one of the top 5 most downloaded apps worldwide. I use this app to connect with friends and family that I don’t get to see every day, check out the latest fashion trends in an instant, share my own fashion designs, and get daily inspiration from my favorite accounts (like Showstopper! Follow us on Instagram at @GoShowstopper and @RoyalCoutureXO). Instagram is a major way to connect with the world, so it’s essential for dancers.

Shazam

We’ve all been there, listening to a song in public or in an Instagram video that is an absolute BOP with no idea about who the artist is or what the track is called. You need to find the song so you can dance to it later or use it for your next Crystal-winning combo, but the clock is ticking before you lose it forever. Well, that gets old really quick, and now I keep track of all of those in-the-moment song finds with Shazam because it helps me identify songs, find lyrics, and overall, just discover the best new songs. As a dancer and choreographer, with music and dance always going hand in hand, “shazaming” a song is beyond helpful.

“Don’t compare your behind the scenes to someone else’s highlight reel.”

VSCO

My favorite editing app, VSCO (aka Visual Supply Company) is a go-to for quick photo editing without having to carry around a laptop. There are even film-emulation presets to choose from for your pictures! Basically, VSCO is perfect for taking all of your photos, from simple selfies to full look books, to the next level. My favorite part is that all of the editing happens on your phone, so once you’re done, they’re ready to post! No time lost to transferring photos back and forth between devices.

WSL

Growing up near the beach in California, naturally, I fell in love with the ocean. Any time that I am not in the dance or design studio is often time spent at the beach. Watching competitive surfing is like watching a football game in my family! We love to watch the live competition broadcasts on the World Surf League (WSL) app and keep up with our favorite athletes surfing around the globe. If surfing isn’t your thing, try searching the App Store for some of your favorite hobbies, so you can keep up with them.

With all of these apps, it might seem like I spend all of my time on my phone! But that’s not the case. While phones and social media can be super fun, I also monitor my app usage and make sure to take time off my phone every once in a while, to enjoy what’s in front of me! Life is beautiful, and if I want to make the world my stage, I have to unplug once in a while.

If you try incorporating any of these apps into your daily routine, tag me (@royalcouturexo) and Showstopper (@goshowstopper) on social media with the hashtag #RoyalCoutureXShowstopper and show us how you use them.
