Emma Ellery is a 17-year-old dancer from Abbotsford, British Columbia. She dances at Xtreme Talent Dance Company.

“…if you keep an open mind and are interested in learning, everyone you meet in the dance world can teach you something.”

How has where you’re from affected your dance experience?

I have been able to participate in many dance competitions, including Worlds at Whistler, BC. I also am currently part of the Bandits Dance Team and am enjoying this new experience.

How do you want to use dance to make a positive influence on the world around you?

I would just want young kids to know that dance has helped me to enjoy many wonderful experiences. It has helped me to grow into a more outgoing person and you have the opportunity to meet many interesting people and to learn from their experiences also.

What would you tell the world about your culture of dance?

I would just want people to know that it doesn’t matter what your culture is, but that if you keep an open mind and are interested in learning, everyone you meet in the dance world can teach you something.
