Marleigh Mcfaul is a 7-year-old dancer from Lucan, Dublin. She dances at Unique dance & Gymnastics & Dancity Ireland.

“[Dance] makes you feel so so good, it gives me butterflies in my belly when I think about going on stage… it’s the best feeling.”

How has where you’re from affected your dance experience?

Dance in Ireland is huge, from musical theatre to hip hop to lyrical and jazz. Marleigh comes from a family of performers, her mam is one of her teachers and has also performed in the same competitions Marleigh performs in now. The positivity and support from family and friends in the area is second to none. We cheer for every dancer win or lose, This has influenced Marleigh in ways we could only imagine, she is so supportive to all and win or lose she is happy either way.

How do you want to use dance to make a positive influence on the world around you?

There is so much sadness in the world right now. I want the world to get better. I try make my world better by dancing. Even though we can’t dance together right now, it doesn’t mean we can’t dance at all. I hope everyone loves dance even more now as you can do it anywhere. You don’t have to be in the studio. I love to dance in my kitchen or my back garden. I hope soon we can all dance together again and love it even more.

What would you tell the world about your culture of dance?

It makes you feel so so good, it gives me butterflies in my belly when I think about going on stage and dancing for all my family and friends. The music gives me butterflies in my belly, it’s the best feeling. I feel like a superstar when I dance like JoJo Siwa!
