Meeka Wojo is a 10-year-old dancer from Brownsburg, Indiana. She dances at Indianapolis Ballet.

“Music is not just something to be heard; it is to be experienced. Sharing my gift of dance with others actually brings music to life.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

My dance career is a dream in infinite motion. Through dance, I have found expression. Dance is a way to show the world (and myself) who I am without words. It helps me to deal with life’s emotions and to find joy in hard work and determination. Nothing achieved in dance is given to you. You earn every tiny achievement, and that makes me a better me every single day.

How do you want to use dance to be a positive influence on your community?

Music is not just something to be heard; it is to be experienced. Sharing my gift of dance with others actually brings music to life. I take someone’s art of music and build on it. Through precise technique and expression, dance allows me to give a visual form to music. My dancing gives others a true musical gift that they can physically see. I am honored to be able to share this art.
