Shining, shimmering, splendid! Every day is a new chance to sparkle. It turns out there actually is a day just for sparkles. National Glitter Day is August 26. Let’s celebrate in fabulous glitter fashion—sequins, sparkles, and everything bejeweled!
From glittery makeup and fashion-forward outfits to dance looks and accessories (grab your earrings, bracelets, hair clips, and even nail polish!), there are so many stylish ways to rock sparkles. Glitter truly is my favorite color. As Teen Vogue says, “Standing out among the crows has never been more en Vogue.” Get ready to shine fashionistas!
The Crystal Edit
When it comes to a fun celebration, one of my favorite parts of fashion is styling my dance look to fit the occasion. For Glitter Day at the studio, part one of the look is finding sparkly clothing pieces that are lightweight, easy to move in, and danceable. Shimmery ballet skirts, metallic athletic tops, and even leotards from previous dance costumes are great options with a lot of styling possibilities. For this look, I decided to layer a jewel-embellished mesh shirt over my leotard. This is crystalized fashion glam.
Glitter Makeup
To celebrate this day of all things shiny, there are a few fun makeup components you can include as a part of your look if you want to. I added some glistening highlighter and iridescent face glitter to my look. Like Taylor Swift, we “can still make the whole place shimmer!”
Hairstyle Sparkle
Spice up your everyday hairstyles with some added sparkle. There’s a glimmering selection of hair accessories to choose from—clips, barrettes, bobby pins, headbands, bows, and even hair glitter. For dance, I like to layer glitter clips in fun shapes to complement a slicked-back ballet bun! Super sparkle!
Jewelry Shine
Sparkling under stage lights (or even just the lights at the studio) requires bling! In dance, theater, and performance, bling is always a yes! For this glittery ensemble, I added crystal drop earrings and colorful beaded bracelets. Have fun accessorizing your outfit in a way that you love. Then take it for a spin in the sunshine for maximum shine!
Spotlight on the Sparkle Dress
A special occasion in the style of sparkle! I love a good statement outfit that is ready to dazzle. I think a sparkle dress in your closet is a great wardrobe staple. You can’t go wrong with sparkles! Pick your favorite glitter dress and twirl and shine! Sequins galore, you never know when the red carpets are calling. Glow, girl!
