Kayla Daniel is a 13-year-old dancer from Brandywine, Maryland. She dances at ZD Dance Academy.

“My goal while dancing is to brighten other people’s day and show them that they too can communicate through this art form.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

When I’m having a bad day and don’t feel like talking, I can express myself through movement. Dance helps me express myself in ways words can’t. Dance makes me feel happy and gets me excited. It has helped me improve my confidence, and I feel like I’m on top of the world when I’m on stage.

How do you want to use dance to be a positive influence on your community?

I want other people to experience the same joy I feel when dancing. Sharing my gift with my community can influence others to dance. Often times people don’t even know they want to dance because they aren’t exposed to it. My goal while dancing is to brighten other people’s day and show them that they too can communicate through this art form.
