We all have words that trigger good feelings for us. (I mean, we all get way too excited at even the suggestion of “ice cream.”) Some of those words invoke a place or a memory or are a source of motivation. One of those words, for me, is Showstopper. Every time I think of it, I can’t help but smile! The memories I have attached to that spectacular word are pure magic.

After competing at Showstopper Competitions for more than a decade (time flies when you’re dancing!), teaching at conventions, designing the Royal CoutureXShowstopper leotard, and writing for Showstopper Magazine, this word has come to mean so much to me. Showstopper inspires, teaches, and creates a magical place for dancers to create lasting, sparkling memories! But, don’t take my word for it, let me give you an insider’s look at some of Showstopper’s best features.

A Stage to Shine on

Fun fact: Showstopper is America’s first and longest-running dance competition! Dancers across the United States and the world come to Showstopper’s more than fifty competition events every single year. That’s a lot of magic and talent on stage each year. I grew up dancing my heart out on those incredible stages with my family and friends, and each year, I’m excited to see it become an even better platform for dancers to showcase their talents like professionals.

Being in the spotlight in front of the custom background screens is incredible, but what’s always inspires me is feedback from the judges on every routine. During quarantine this year, my sisters and I even revisited some of our Showstopper judges’ critiques from previous years.

Conventions, Conventions, Conventions

Dancers, it’s time to dance and dance a lot. Every year Showstopper hosts dance conventions across the united states for dancers of all ages with classes that span pretty much every dance genre. The classes are taught by dancers and choreographers that have performed on the most renowned stages in the world including Broadway staples like Lincoln Center and Radio City and TV favorites like So You Think You Can Dance. Convention weekends are high-energy and filled with fun. If you’re off to a convention, get ready for awesome music. new friends, and invaluable lessons!

A Dazzling Environment

Online and off, the Showstopper environment is a positive place for dancers of all ages. From competitions and conventions at the best venues for dancers and teachers to all the little perks like teacher hospitality suites to the one-stop Showstopper app for updates, schedules, and dance entertainment, being in the Showstopper world is like adding an extra sparkle to your day.

One of my favorite things about Showstopper is getting to meet so many new dancers that support you on-stage and off. There’s nothing like having your dance BFFs backstage cheering you on! The talent, determination, and passion are unmatched.

Showstopper Style

You probably know that outside of dance, I’m all about fashion. I’d be lying if I didn’t say that Showstopper style influences and inspires me. Trendy tops, athleisure, and accessories are a Showstopper staple. Showstopper’s iconic pink sparked my design for the Royal CoutureXShowstopper pink velvet leotard this past season. (Who knows? You might want to stay tuned for the next Royal CoutureXShowstopper dancewear collab at future Showstopper events.)

Showstopper Magazine

I might be a little biased, but this is my favorite magazine ever. Showstopper Magazine is my go-to for all things inspiration, and it’s a must-read for fashion-loving dancers. Did you know each issue has its own theme? Inside you will find the latest trends in lifestyle, beauty, fashion, music, and dance. The magazine is in bookstores in the United States and Canada, but to keep things simple, you can find them here. (You might even see a familiar face in the latest issue!)

Showstopper knows how to keep the passion of dance alive! I have so much love for my Showstopper family, and I cannot wait till we can all dance together again at the next Showstopper Event! What is your favorite part about attending Showstopper Dance Competitions or Conventions?
