“I want to be the voice for kids who live in underprivileged communities…”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

“Dance has created [a] tremendous[ly] positive impact in my life! Dance allows me to develop artistic and creative physical skills which I didn’t know my body can do before. Dance allows me to express my feelings, no matter if I’m happy or sad. Dance offers the opportunities for me to constantly challenge myself. I have become a better person as I learned a lot about teamwork and trust, self-discipline, responsibility, respect and compassion, and be a good role model for others. Because of dance, I have established valuable friendships with my teammates and met many new friends at various dance events.”

How do you want to use dance to make a positive influence on your community?

“As a dancer, I want to contribute my effort and dance skills and give back to the community. I want to be the voice for kids who live in underprivileged communities. I would seek community support to sponsor free dance classes, so that these kids are provided an opportunity to do something fun and develop a sense of purpose in life, and helped them stay off the street and from any bad influence they may be exposed to. As their peer, I will share my experience on how to deal with pressure, overcome difficulties and focus on achieving goals.”
