After 30 seasons on ABC, Dancing with the Stars is moving to Disney+. Set to make the move this fall, the series has received atwo-season pickup exclusively premiering in the US and Canada. DWTS is the first live series to debut on Disney+.

Over the last 16 years, DWTS has aired 30 seasons with a variety of themes and exciting dancer and celebrity pairings. “…we are excited to bring this beloved show exclusively to Disney+ as the platform’s first-ever live series,” said Kareem Daniel, chairman for Disney’s Media and Entertainment Distribution. “The show’s broad appeal, as well as the overwhelming popularity of its Disney-themed competition nights, make Disney+ the perfect home for Dancing with the Stars…”

This announcement comes alongside building excitement about the return of Fox’s dance competition program So You Think You Can Dance after a two-year hiatus. It looks like fall TV will be full of dance!

It’s strange to imagine DWTS finding a new home, but so far no other changes to the show have been announced. While we wait for more updates in the coming months, it might be the perfect time to renew our Disney+ subscriptions and try to guess which dancers and celebrities will be dancing for us each week.
