Happy New Year! 2023, a new year with new dreams to be dreamt, new dances to be danced, new songs to sing, new memories to be made, new fashions to style, new passions to follow, new adventures awaiting, and new sparkle to SHINE! “This new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written.” (Thanks for the wise words, Melody Beattie.) January is just the start, the exciting beginning of a new year!

“New Year is the glittering light to brighten the dream-lined pathway of future.”

Let’s create a vision board for 2023. Vision boards are like a great big collage of pictures/words representing dreams, goals, and inspiration! Our goal is to visualize what we’re looking forward to from things you have scheduled for the year to aesthetics or images that capture the moods and feelings you hope to experience.

Getting Started

Fill your vision board with:

  • Dreams – What would be your bucket list for the year?
  • Passions – Add images for your hobbies from dance to after-school activities
  • Inspiration – Who do you want to be this year?
  • Lifestyle – Dreamy bedroom goals, trips, and more!
  • Goals – Write down those goals you want to tackle!
  • Quotes – Capture wise words from your idols and role models.
  • Color – Pick a color to set the tone for the year!
  • Fashion – Outfit inspiration!
  • Sparkle – What project is complete without a little glitter?

“It begins with a dream…” To start this fun art project, you’ll need a blank canvas to build upon! I used the top of a shoe box, but you can totally use an actual canvas, construction paper, or picture frame as your vision board base. Other supplies you’ll need are magazines, pictures, and prints to layer and collage on your vision board! Having a variety of fashion, dance, gardening, and cooking magazines—and of course, the amazing Showstopper Magazine (Spring 2023 issue coming soon!) is a great way to get lots of inspiration.

“A little progress each day adds up to big results.”

Create!

Creation process! Tear out pages you love and cut out things in the magazines you want on your 2023 vision board! It could be meaningful words, positive affirmations, clip art or photos, cool quotes, your lucky numbers, 2023 goals, your favorite style trends, passions you want to follow, fabulous food ideas, your favorite colors, bucket list destinations, cute pets, sunsets, flowers, or maybe phrases that you want to be encouraged by for 2023. Choose what speaks to you! As Walt Disney said, “If you can dream it, you can do it!”

Start creating and get ready for all the inspirational fun to begin! Once you gather inspiration and images from your magazines, you can glue them on your canvas in any design you like. Watch your blank canvas soon become filled with beauty!

Helpful Tip: Arrange larger items on your vision board first, then continue to layer small- and medium-sized pictures/words from there!

Details

Once you’ve laid the groundwork for your vision board, add details that are special to you! You can draw, write, or color on your vision board. Fill every blank space with something that inspires you! To do this, outline pictures, add doodles, or even add 3D elements such as glitter, rhinestones, and stickers!

“This year I will be braver, stronger, kinder, unstoppable, and this year I will be fierce!”

These are all ideas, but remember your vision board is uniquely yours. Have fun designing your board in any way you like! I think the coolest part of this project, is that no two Vision Boards will be the same.

This is a sparkling new year full of amazing things! Let’s go 2023. Shine bright!
