If your plan is to spend the end of the year blasting fun music, you’re going to need Jade Holland in your playlists. Jade is an Australian country star that has channeled her favorite rock and pop influences into a country sound listeners can’t get enough of. After three number-one debuts on the Apple Music All Genres and Country Music Video Charts, Jade is finishing the year with another catchy track perfect for celebrating love.

We caught up with Jade to get an inside look at “Oh My Heart”—a song she calls “fun, youthful, and explosive”—along with some big plans for 2023.

Showstopper Magazine Online: Tell us a bit about yourself.

Jade Holland: If Crocodile Dundee had a daughter who liked sparkles, it would be me. I was a little bush kid (as us Aussie would say), growing up in Kuranda, a little hippie town, with my parents and my little brother, and since have traveled Australia and the world with my music. I write morning, noon, and night and jump on stage whenever I can. I love meeting folks from everywhere and watching them connect over a tune and a beer.

SMO: How do you describe your sound? Who or what inspires you and your music?

Jade: My upbringing music-wise consisted of nothing country! My parents listened to artists like Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Alanis Morissette etcetera etcetera, so when I said I wanted to sing country music, they didn’t have a clue what I was talking about, but I was determined to do it. I then developed my love for 90’s country music!

So, I think to describe my sound, it’s probably a mix of country and pop but vocal-wise still channeling my love for that 90’s era! I‘m a huge fan of The Chicks and Martina McBride, Miranda Lambert, etcetera. I love that they all have something to say and aren’t afraid to say it.

SMO: Your latest country song “Oh My Heart” comes out this week. What inspired the song? What was your process for bringing it to life?

Jade: You know what, this song has been coming for a long time, but I don’t think I understood that fully until now. I have always been so open with my love life, it was very much a “What love life?” kind of question as I was always unlucky in love until a met my forever human a few years ago.

I sat down with a friend of mine Sinead Burgess earlier towards the beginning of this year, and we were catching up over a cheeky drink, talking about life and how we had both randomly met someone at the same time a few years ago. After, tjade we had both been swept off our feet, and I think it was about bloody time! So we wrote about it!

SMO: Do you have a favorite line on the song?

Jade: “My old life’s been left for dead, and I can’t remember a word you said, but good God, it sounded so good to me.”

SMO: Who is “Oh My Heart” for? What are you most excited for people to hear?

Jade: “Oh My Heart” is for everyone! It’s about remembering that love is a beautiful thing, and even if you don’t have a someone in your life, we need to remember to slow down and enjoy life.

SMO: “Oh My Heart” is your last release of the year. What can people expect from you in 2023?

Jade: TOURING! And maybe an album! These are my goals! I’d love to release a new album next year!

“Oh My Heart” is streaming now on all major music platforms. If you want to keep up with Jade’s in 2023 for tour announcements and general music excitement, she’s staying in touch on Instagram and Twitter (@jadehollandmusic).
