Pop singer-songwriter Rachel Bochner is back with a new single from her upcoming EP. A song that started as a track she and producer and co-writer Tiger Darrow “could strut to,” “If I’m Gunna Be Sad (I Might As Well Look Hot Doing It)” is a mix of vulnerable and confident that sets the tone for an EP that is post-heartbreak and set to be full of feelings that range from hype to melancholy.
Of creating “If I’m Gunna Be Sad (I Might As Well Look Hot Doing It)” with Tiger, Rachel said “When I showed up at Tiger’s studio the day we wrote this single, all I knew is that I wanted to make a song we could strut to. We started off writing something that embodied more of an IDGAF attitude, but after a while, we realized it just didn’t feel super authentic. There was a moment when we were working on it when we realized, okay, maybe we do kind of… but if we’re going to be sad, we might as well look hot doing it.”
“If I’m Gunne Be Sad (I Might As Well Look Hot Doing It)” follows the lead single of her EP “Sucker Punch.” Rachel shared that these songs and the rest of the project are not only her experiences but also for other people to express themselves. “When people hear these songs, I want them to know it’s okay to feel their feelings, to find humor even in the darkness, and to remember that we have the power to define our own self-worth.”
“If I’m Gunna Be Sad (I Might As Well Look Hot Doing It)” is streaming now on all music platforms.
