Jocelyn Mastro is an 18-year-old dancer from Newark, Delaware. She dances at Encore Dance Academy.

Dance has a positive outlook on my life because it is everything that defines me and who I want to be. I love getting to be inspired by everyone I meet and learn from in the industry. My biggest influences have been from the dancers I have been able to teach, watching them learn, grow, and inspire and be inspired is why I love what I do. My biggest motto in life is “Dance for you and only you.” This is a huge reassurance to myself that I am not in this industry for the win. I am in dance to feel fulfilled by inspiration, to give back ,and be a positive role model to those around me and support others. I have seen, been through, and have learned from the hard work, the ethic, and determination it takes to succeed. I find passion through my soul, and it exudes on the stage. If I can touch one person’s life through this art, I have already won, but if I can light up my soul through my movement and feel inspired, I have hit the jackpot.
I run two charities that help my communities and communities around the world. These opportunities and moments to give back help underprivileged youth. It gives hope, it allows safe spaces and it allows for personal relationships to be built.
