Do you ever just want to sit back and look at all the things that make you happy? It is important to remember the things that make you happy and remember not to take them for granted. That way, you can appreciate everything with new eyes whether it’s something you’ve always had or something new. There are several ways to do this. One is to simply close your eyes and meditate on the things that you are grateful for. Another, more hands on and visual way is to keep a gratitude log.

What is a Gratitude Log?

A gratitude log can be many things, but it is basically a way to record and look back on things that you are grateful for whether they’re your best friends or your favorite kinds of candy. You write down the things that make you happy either in general, or you can write down specific moments that you are grateful for experiencing. Later, y ou can look at your log and be grateful for these things and remind yourself that you always have something to smile about!

Ways to Log

Simple List

The simple list is a fairly minimalist way of writing down the things you are grateful for. For this log, all you need are a couple pages and your favorite bullet shape! (Circles or dashes?) From there, just list the things you are grateful for. You can be as simple or as detailed as you want. It’s your log!

Mind Map

If you want to get a little more creative with your gratitude log, you can use different mind maps to log the things you are grateful for. Try drawing a sun or a cloud with rays radiating off of it that you can write on. You can also use any style of mind maps you prefer from webs to flow charts and everything in between! Organize the things you love in a way that best suits you.

Picture Log

A picture log is a great way to record the things you’re grateful for without having to write about them. You can use real photos or just draw the things you want to record! Doodle them in a chart, draw polaroid frames, or just doodle wherever you want to! As you add more and more to it, picture log of the things you’re grateful for can quickly become a work of art.

Want to Go a Little Further?

If you want to delve deeper into logging the things you are grateful for, you can move from a gratitude log to a gratitude journal. In the journal, you can record things the same way you would in a log. Record things in various layouts, page by page, until your journal is full. Or, you can write detailed entries about each thing you’re grateful for!

No matter how you remember the things you are grateful for, be sure to keep your log or journal with you all the time, so you can keep adding new things and looking back on previous ones. (Toss it in your dance bag!) As you record the things that you are grateful for, you will remember that you have more things to be happy for, and you will always be on the lookout for new things to cherish.
