Clarke Budd is a twelve-year-old dancer from Waldorf, Maryland. She dances at C & C Dance Company.

“Dance gives me an outlet to express myself…I can be bold, silly, and fierce! I want to show my community that there are different ways to express yourself.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

“The phrase “don’t be afraid” is written in the Bible 365 times. That’s a daily reminder from God to live every day being fearless.” Dance gives me an outlet to express myself through physical art. I can be bold, silly, and fierce!

How do you want to use dance to have a positive influence on your community?

I want to show my community that there are different ways to express yourself. You can dance out your emotions. My solos “Black Cat,” “Girl On Fire,” and “Freedom” allow me to express emotions such as sassy, powerful, and relentlessness.
