Lexi Wilson is a 17-year-old dancer from Mount Juliet, Tennessee. She dances at Rockstar Academy of Dance.

“I feel when I dance, I can be me; I can express my feelings and show my life through dance.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

“Dance allows me to be me. I have ADHD, and sometimes [I’m] socially awkward. I feel when I dance, I can be me; I can express my feelings and show my life through dance. God gave me this beautiful gift, and I want to use it to show others that no matter what they have going on in their life to always be true to themselves and to love who they are!

How do you want to use dance to make a positive influence on your community?

Find something you love–dance, acting, sports or singing–anything, and use it to show others how to love. I teach dance at my studio and it gives me a chance to show the little kids how to turn their talents into love by loving and encouraging them. You can do ALL things so don’t say ‘can’t’ and NEVER give up on your dreams! My dad instilled that in me and I want to pass that knowledge along.
