Delaney Timlin is an 18-year-old dancer from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She dances at Sandra’s School of Dance.

“…dance has taught me what it is like to have passion.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

Dance has a positive impact on my life because it has taught me so many different life skills that I will carry with me forever, such as dedication, hard work, communication skills, teamwork, and time management. Most of all, dance has taught me what it is like to have passion. Dance is something I am insanely passionate about. No matter how hard it gets, I could never give up on it. Through dance, I’ve learned how to overcome the hardest of obstacles because I have a family of dancers that share the same passion as me and are always there to support me.

How do you want to use dance to make a positive influence on your community?

I want to use dance as a way to teach children the life skills I have learned that you don’t learn in school. I want the community around me to be able to use dance as an emotional outlet as well as a way to stay healthy through exercise. There’s no single purpose for dance because it has such a broad impact on people’s lives. I want my community to feel the positive vibes that everyone feels while dancing whether it is competitive or just a school dance.
