Skyler Griffin is a 16-year-old dancer from Jonesboro, Georgia. She dances at The Dance Academy.

“I want to inspire the younger girls at my studio and my school district with dance.”

How does dance have a positive impact on your life?

“I’ve been dancing for 8 years, and I couldn’t even begin to explain how it has changed my life. Dance is how I express myself and let myself go when words can’t explain how I feel. It follows me everywhere I go; school, home, even the grocery store! My dance teachers have helped me gain confidence and grow as a dancer, student, and person, and I’m eternally grateful for that. My dance life gives me joy, confidence, strength, and it has brought me to so many people who I love.”

How do you want to use dance to make a positive influence on your community?

“I want to inspire the younger girls at my studio and my school district with dance. I looked up to the older girls at my studio when I was younger and want to give the same chance to them. After high school and college, I want to find a cheap way for everyone in my community to dance; because we all know classes and dance shoes are not cheap! My goal is to inspire others to start dancing or to continue to give their best effort to grow as a dancer.”
